I have no Monet. I am Baroque.

So far today I am having a very technologically retarded time of things. Flash has been unexpectedly quitting on me all morning and my computer keeps going into hibernation at random intervals. It's awesome. I can tell you're jealous.

I feel like I should come up with a clever segue, but I'm not feeling it so here's a magical special rainbow of some of the plants in my garden. Because I like plants (particularly plants that I can eat).

From top to bottom:
Peony
Morning Glory (Something has been eating the morning glories by the front porch, and I hope it's tripping its face off whatever it is. Also, laughing pretty hard at these stories- sounds like these people are reading the, "Worst trip I've ever had in my whole life I wanted to kill my cat, my boyfriend and myself" reviews and going, "HECK YES I WANT TO TRY THAT" - now maybe it's just me, but if you tell me something tastes like the ass of a three week dead raccoon I'm not going to be in a big hurry to try it. Go figure.)
Forget-Me-Nots
Lady's Mantle
Lettuce (I ate most of it already.)
Chamomile (Woo, making tea.)
Squash (Woo, making... something with squash.)
lakjsf;kjaf, don't remember what these were. Some kid of zinnia maybe?
Poppy (Not going to eat that...)

Okay, now that I've procrastinated for a while, I'll go back to fighting with technology.

Maybe lunch first though.

I won't be there due to barfing. Apparently when I have to ask myself if something is safe to eat, I should probably not eat it.

What is it about plants that says to cats, "Hey, I might be tasty, you should probably eat me." Because I just don't see it.

Considering moving to Antarctica.

So I guess this is the guy who was hanging out on the porch.

OH GOOD GOD

So I thought that the trade off for living in New England and having hotter than hell summers and too-far below zero winters was that we didn't have to have enormous spiders. I'm so thrilled to learn that the dead 'lol is that a tarantula?' spider we saw when we moved in wasn't some kind of fluke and there's a nest of these creepy fuckers living under the porch.

SHIT MAN, I screamed like a little girl and ran a good twenty feet away from this thing and did the get-it-off-me dance. I still have a major case of the skeevies.

Not to sound like a total pansy, but can we just get rid of spiders altogether? Maybe replace them with really small kittens that can stick to walls and ceilings or something? Hell, they can even spin webs- but this whole spider thing is not cool.

(I tried to google what kind of spider it was but pictures of spiders filling up my whole monitor doesn't make me feel less creeped out)

Conventions or something

ED: Cool glasses
This summer I'm going to Disney (oh ho ho for the first time since I was twelve) with Kelly, Aidan, and Kelly's parents. It's... an actual vacation. Not a convention or a family function of some sort, but an actual vacation.

(I also realize this is probably not so HOLY CRAP AWESOME to the majority of my friends list since it sounds like at least half of you guys are either vacationing in foreign countries at the moment or working at some exotic dream-job)

Um, so I'm really excited. But this means that Dragon*Con (and any other conventions with the exception of AB) just aren't going to happen for me this year.

Hopefully instead Kelly and I will get to go on some sweet FANTASTIC road trips (like maybe visit Sam[info]takaginaosama?).

And finally, here's a picture of Appa (who's snoring little ferrety wheezy snores right now) because fuzzy animals supposedly make everything better.

Edit: I was really looking forward to seeing a lot of people at D*C but there's just no way short of winning the lotto that it's going to happen. I just don't have the money and I don't feel like trying to scrape it together for a convention. It's not worth the stress. Sorry.

So I was zooming around tv channels (okay, I think you're supposed to say flipping, but I WAS ZOOMING around the twenty channels we get) last week and settled on watching some randomly horrible medieval-y looking show (how can you go wrong there?). About half an hour into it I started spluttering and freaking out realizing it was supposed to be an adaptation of the Sword of Truth/Terry Goodkind books.

So I'd been hearing lots of raving about that Twilight series and decided I'd see what that was all about...Twilight )

Jumbled Entry

Kelly and I are moving into a new apartment tomorrow (our apartment is in varying stages of being packed into boxes right now) and we won't be getting internet installed at the new place until the 29th- so, er, yeah. There's that.

Also, because of all this moving business I'm not going to NYAF- so I'll have to see you crazy fun NYC people another time. D:

I know there was something else I wanted to say, but I've got no clue what it was- I'm really preoccupied by my stomach right now. Really, how is it only 2:30? I'm ready for dinner. Auugh. Maybe Kelly and Aidan can be convinced to have early dinner. Linner? Dunch? Hm.

Auugh, back to packing.

Pre-Otakon YAY

Going to Otakon this weekend with Kelly, and we're going to have a superawesomefunrelaxing time. I keep having weird nerves about the con and I don't know why- maybe because last Otakon was the last real convention time I had? I dunno. WEIRD, MAN. WEIRD.

The plan is there is no plan. I never answer my phone and I'm oblivious as all hell (and I swear I'm going mostly deaf and will INVENT what I think you're saying to me and it's generally pretty raunchy) so if you have my phone number and for some reason need to find me it's a lot more convenient to use text messages.
Or if you for some reason want my phone number to harass me in text messages then that's cool too. Mmmyeah.

I have that TEE HEE MY FIRST CON EVER giggly excitement going on about Otakon right now, it's very ridiculous but I'm happy all the same.

Comments are screened if you want to leave your phone # or if you want mine or if you just want to go SDFL:KJSDFSDIFOJWER:LSDKFJYAYOTAKON WHEEEEEE in the comments.

AUGH I am useless! I keep meaning to make an lj post to, you know, prove I'm not dead- but I just can't bring myself to write anything.

Last week my checking account info was stolen and my money spent by some unknown person. I haven't missed the humor in the situation though, considering I was a bit financially fucked before that happened. Oh-ho! Good one, universe!

My computer also died (it makes noises like a spaceship about to blast off! Whee!) and I lost a crapton of stuff, including emails- so I don't have any addresses or any of the other emails I was supposed to reply to. So... bummer.

Anyway, that stuff's not so bad. The money's already back in my account and I got my new check card in the mail yesterday. So life's good, I'm happy- now I think I'm gonna go see if the pretty girl in the other room wants to have some vino with me.

2007's been over for a while, Katie.

I've thought about summarizing, but heck I don't feel like it. I do need to make a 2007 post so that I can look back on it though- I think for that I'll just do a photo dump. I'm excluding personal photos, like most of my stuff of Kelly and Aidan because I don't think those belong on the internet- so this is really just a random bunch of photos from some of my 2007 photo folders.

I thought about setting myself a goal to post in this once a week or something... but then changed my mind. I guess I'll just stick with once a month and anything more than that can make me all sorts of pleased with myself.

I'd say I haven't been doing much, but considering the last time I updated was Otakon- well, no, I guess I still haven't been doing much. I've been working, enjoying AMAZING FOOD VERY OFTEN with Kelly, making some pathetic attempts at cleaning (I have more CRAP than I have places to keep it), and being generally lazy.

Work is still up in the air, so while I have a great not-so-sure financial situation it's been fun to look at expensive camera toys online. Not very helpful though.

This post now has a lot of words, so I'm going to put a picture with it because I like pictures more than words.

Er, Kelly and I also made a joint Myspace (Myspace is LAME) account because not internet-world friendly people seem to use that. So there's that.

So, uh, what have you guys been up to? Heard Dragon Con was awesome. :P

blah blah Otakon blah.

Otakon was the usual running around like crazy, changing, pictures, changing, scurrying around, finding people at inopportune times, meeting awesome people, and then having a blast after dinner. I think that this may have been one of the best Otakons I've been to- everyone was exceptionally great. I didn't feel like babysitting my camera, so I generally didn't bring it around with me- which means that all of these photos were yoinked from other people.

I never do shout-outs and I don't really feel the need to change that now- but holy BALLS I met so many new awesome people at this con. I can't wait to hang out again at Katsu. Also got to hang out with people who I usually only see in passing and it was faaaaaaaaantabulous.

Costumes:

Friday: QUEER Ball costumes (bob and SAYER), Sailor Aluminum Siren (Kelly as Heavy Metal Papillion), then Gryffindor Bob and Kelly's Slytherin Seiya for drinking costumes.
Saturday: Healer (Kelly as Sailor Kakyuu) and Eternal Sailor Moon (Kelly as Fighter) which we wore for all of two seconds. Then summer school uniform bob and rei for our drinking costumes.

Summer Plans

So. My plans for the summer have drastically changed multiple times. Come September I'm not going to have a job- which makes me a bit nervous and ticked off and it's really just a very dull story which makes me irritated every time I tell it so I'd rather not get into it here. Point is that my money situation is going to suck for a while.
Due to this, I'm not going to Anime Expo or Dragon*Con. There's just no way I'll be able to afford it. I'm really sorry (Cody and Stacy- you realize we're NEVER going to get to hang out, right?) it's lame.

Kelly and I will be going to Anime Next and Otakon though. Because we can go to those for really really cheap. No, I mean really cheap.

I've been noticing lately that there really isn't enough time in the day. Can we do something about this? @__@

Long Weekend AHOY

Food is AWESOME.
On that note I've developed a recent obsession with bento (star shaped pancakes and bear shaped eggs? Excellent.), and made myself some sushi for dinner yesterday that was actually edible for once. I also attempted to make some little dumpling things but they just came out looking like balls of poop. Hm.

I could probably make this whole entry about food (made more challah yesterday because it's so good with tomato, basil, and cheeeeeeese...) but I won't.

Annnd now I'm going to leave for MA to visit with my family for a while. But before I do that, I'm going to stick a photo in this post. Because personally I prefer posts with pictures... and because I'm happy to have finally gotten photos of one of my costumes from AB.

I hope you guys have a fantaaabulous long weekend.

HELLO LADIES.

I had a fantastic birthday/St. Patrick’s Day filled with Kelly, good food, and photos- which are without a doubt a few of my favorite things. Forget the whole whiskers on kittens and brown paper packages tied up with string bit.
We finally got around to kind of doing our balloon photos (filling the living room with balloons and playing with a helium tank). We started really losing the light towards the end (which has made me lust after a faster lens but I can’t bring myself to sell any of my other lenses) and the whole camera-tripod-laptop-timer thing is awesome but sometimes you just really need somebody else to take photos and tell you when you look like a moron. On that note, I think half of the pictures are of us making the most retarded faces possible, Kelly spanking herself, me burping, and just so so so much other specialness.

Finally, today is amazing because I'm not at work.

Also, uh... I feel more than a little retarded saying this since it's like oh hey vain but cosplaylab made me their March person. You know, once I finally sent them the interview. Because I never procrastinate. EVER.

I should probably post a real picture from the fabu-tabulous-ly fun balloon thing. But our special faces are just SO MUCH BETTER.

And now it's food time.

EDIT: Okay, fine. Non-retard-face-picture.

This Katsu was the breast one yet.

After swimming through the tons of blurry, dark, noisy, and REALLY DRUNK pictures from this con, I've realized that there aren't that many I can safely put on the inter-web.

I made the mistake of having chinese food and a bit too much rum on Thursday, which sort of set the tone of tired/bloated/hungover for the rest of the weekend. YES, WAY TO GO.

What are your thoughts on farts in jars? Is it possible to trap a fart in a jar? How long will the fart smell stay in there? Has anyone tried this yet? I'm curious.

Some broken ribs, a punctured lung.

Skipped out on work today. Kelly is legitimately sick, whereas I just kinda didn't feel like going (I told myself I would be productive with the day but OHHH I lied).

In other news, this is what we did at work the other week:

I think maybe I was going to say something else, but it clearly wasn't very interesting.
